  17. <p>     If Spiro Agnew once got hot under the collar contemplating
  18. the "instant analysis" of TV journalists covering President
  19. Nixon's speeches, last week's take on President Bush's State of
  20. the Union address from cable channel Comedy Central would have
  21. made him burst into flame. The satirical play-by-play reportage
  22. included Al Franken evaluating Bush's speech as it was
  23. delivered, and caustic comic Richard Belzer firing postgame
  24. jibes. Viewers were served raw ridicule of presidential welfare
  25. bashing and strained just-plain-folkisms, like Bush's nod to
  26. "G.I. Joes and Janes...who sucked the dust." The result:
  27. Comedy Central's ratings doubled.
